Paul Verhoeven directed the film starring Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, and Dan O’Herlihy. ‘RoboCop’ Plot Summary In the not too distant future, Detroit has become a city plagued by crime and financial mismanagement. The Omni Consumer Products (OCP) corporation takes over the police department in exchange for the opportunity to revitalize the crumbling city. They develop a program that would create a police cyborg to fight crime and help restore order to the crime ridden city. However, OCP needs a “volunteer” to further develop their program. That is until young Detroit Police Officer Alex Murphy encounters crime boss Clarence Boddicker where Murphy’s life is forever changed, and he becomes RoboCop, the future of law enforcement.
