The choroid plexus is a tissue in your baby’s brain that produces cerebrospinal fluid, which surrounds your baby’s brain and spinal cord. In a small number of pregnancies a tiny bit of fluid is pinched off when the choroid plexus is formed and it appears on an ultrasound as a fluid-filled cyst, called a choroid plexus cyst. These cysts could be a concern because they are common in babies who have Edward’s Syndrome. The good news is that in most pregnancies these cysts are harmless and will disappear by week 28.
