Submit ReviewTreasurer Jim Chalmers confirmed Treasury has been asked for expert advice and modelling on potential changes to negative gearing, but it's not the first time some of this work has been undertaken.
Independent Senators David Pocock and Jacqui Lambie asked the Parliamentary Budget Office to assess five options earlier this year. Senator Pocock told RN Breakfast there is a middle ground between completely phasing out negative gearing and not touching it at all, suggesting an approach that "grandfathers and limits" negative gearing could be the "sensible way forward."
