Whether you own a pet or not, there are enormous opportunities out there for you in the pet industry, which is, by the way, a $30 BILLION industry! Having been involved in all aspects of the pet industry for 57 years, my guest expert, Phil Cooper, knows all about these opportunities.
Among other things, you'll hear Phil speak about (1) the latest trends in pet ownership, products, services, and spending, (2) one major part of the world where the pet industry is growing in leaps and bounds, (3) how Millennials and Gen Z'ers are looking at their pets differently than the generations before them, and (4) a staggering projection about the future growth of the pet industry over the next decade.
Most importantly for you, Phil identifies numerous opportunities for anyone from teenagers, to adult job/career seekers and changers, to entrepreneurs, to investors in the pet industry. And he provides some great, practical tips on how you can begin to seize one or more of those opportunities.
Now a little bit more about Phil. For 57 years, Phil Cooper has been living his passion for animals by working in the pet industry. Phil started his career as a small retailer, became a distributor, a national salesperson, and has a series of industry firsts -- like owning the first Pet Super Store in the United States before PetSmart or Petco. Phil has traveled the world, selling and making connections with the biggest and best in the pet industry.
As the largest volume pet product manufacturer’s representative in the pet industry for many years, Phil Cooper represented many large and small firms building a wide range of pet items in all categories. He worked with some of the founders of the pet industry, building large pet brands. He has been owned, turned-around, and launched many pet companies, including Inoby’s Pet Products, a division of Yammanuchi Pharmaceutical, Munchkin/Bamboo Inc., The Brinkmann Corp., Phillips Pet Supply/K-Line, Hydor, Pets International LTD, Resco and iClean Dog Wash. Revenue ranges were from $1 million to $350 million and many were startups.
Phil is well known worldwide in the pet industry and has won many awards, including The Gold Circle Award from The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council. He has held Board seats on The Western World Pet Supply Association (now WPA), PIJAC Australia, and was a Founding Member of The Pet Care Trust.
He founded and owns a LinkedIn Group “Pet Industry Sales Resources,” which is a networking group helping to put job seekers and job providers together with experienced pet salespeople. He also is a strong supporter of the Pet Advisory Council.
