I’m ecstatic to have beloved filmmaker LLOYD KAUFMAN on this episode! He’s the co-founder of TROMA, the longest running independent studio in the entire galaxy (thus discovered).
Hit movies like the Class of Nuke’em High and The Toxic Avenger put Lloyd and TROMA on the map in the 1980s and into the VHS machines of many a high school sleepover. This was followed up by successful sequels, including Poultrygeist, Surf Nazis Must Die, Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D, Tromeo & Juliet, and most recently, the Nuke’em High reboots:
Return to Nuke’em High Volume 1: (Probably NSFW)
and Return to Return to Nuke’em High aka Vol. 2
Many of the movies are available online FOR FREE at the TROMA Youtube channel!
So you’ll either LOVE these films or hate them. If you’re a big B movie film fan like me and you like Mystery Science Theatre or Mr. Lobo, then I’m guessing you already know about Troma.
You can watch new releases of Troma films over at TROMA NOW: http://watch.troma.com/!
Lloyd also wrote several books on how to make truly independent movies!

And it’s the challenges of making TRULY independent cinema that Lloyd will speak PASSIONATELY about during our conversation. We’ll be talking about how TROMA is truly the rebels against the evil Death Stars of the large studios and film festivals who are now under the thumb of the ruling corporate class. We’ll learn about what the death of Net Neutrality will do to Troma and other independent content creators out there too.
