1. You need a purpose, what value are you going to add?
2. Have a system and follow a process it means you can stay focused and get your point across. The pentagon system is precise, compact and provides the right amount of information for the audience.

Tell people WHAT it is you’re talking about, start with the end in mind.

Benefits – what it gives them

People want to know step by step HOW they can achieve or have something. Identify the possible main concerns, and overcome them  

WHEN this is a specific date but could be now if you are selling something

1. Know and focus on your audience adapting your speaking to suit your audience. Identify and acknowledge any doubts or concerns and most importantly overcome them during your speech.
2. Practise prepare and practise again, nobody is born a good speaker. It’s a skill to be developed and important for everyone.
3. Start with the end in mind, reverse engineer your speech in small steps. what are the steps you will need to go through to achieve your end goal?
4. Create a great connection and rapport, the way you make your audience feel is based on the connection you make with them. People buy into people and people don’t care unless they know that you care.
5. Record your speeches ready to review. No one’s first speech is their best.

If you record all your speeches and listen back to them as part of your process you can effectively review them and improve.

1. Review and document, what worked well? what needs to change? Implement changes for your next speech.
2. Enjoy speaking, when you enjoy it, you want to repeat it, there is no perfect speaker or speech it’s about making an impact.
