Rachel Slawson just made history being crowned Miss Utah 2020 and the first openly bisexual woman to compete in the Miss USA Pageant. She graces the Provenance Room studio with America's Podcaster, Kurt Caceres, to share her long journey to the top, through abuse, suicide attempts, depression, PTSD and bipolar disorders. And of course, the arduous ride through the most prestigious pageant circuit in the world. She talks about her dream of being the first Queer contestant on The Bachelorette, but that the networks turned her down because they said "our audience wouldn't be interested in that". Still in 2021 the LGBTQ+ community is fighting to be respected and recognized in all facets of society, even the most liberal, Hollywood. Competing in the Miss USA pageant was just the beginning, she has been a Tedx talk speaker as well as an advocate for the millions who battle depression each year. From building homes in third world countries, teaching English in foreign lands and fighting Muay Thai against German strangers in Thailand, this young woman is about to take the world by the horns and make it her own.
