Learn English Through football Podcast: 2019-20 Manchester United vs Arsenal Introduction DF: You’re listening to Languagecaster.com’s football-language podcast. Hello everyone. My name’s Damian and you are listening to the Learn English Through Football podcast; the podcast for all those who love the beautiful game of football and who are aiming to improve their English language skills. Now I’m based here in a …sunny London and Damon, who we’ll hear from in just a moment, is in Tokyo. Now, this week saw League Cup action in England and the League Cup is now known as the Carabao Cup after its sponsors, and it’s the least prestigious cup, that’s the least important, in the English game but we’ll be talking about that competition a little later on in the show. This week I’ve seen quite a lot of football and watched Liverpool beat Chelsea and West Ham defeat Manchester United last weekend but didn’t see any of the Carabao Cup matches – thankfully! I wonder if Damon saw any of the mid-week action from the cup? Damon how are you and have you seen any football this week? DB: Hi there, Damian. I’m well, enjoyed a lovely start to the weekend over here in Tokyo – sunny and a nice breeze, but it’s turned a bit cloudy and wet on Sunday. I didn’t watch any of the League Cup action, but did of course follow it in the news. However, I watched some of the league games last weekend, including Liverpool’s win over Chelsea and their game yesterday against Sheffield United. That’s 16 wins on the bounce now for The Reds!
