Hello there everyone. This is the Learn English Through Football Podcast. This podcast is perfect for those who love football, love the World Cup, and who may be looking to improve their English skills. My name’s Damon and I’m sitting here in Tokyo, Japan, after having watched the four quarter-final games over the previous two days; with games kicking off at 11 pm and 3 am in Japan, I haven’t been getting quite as much sleep as I’d prefer, but it’s the World Cup and it’s only once every four years! Now Damian, down the line in London, can watch the games at more civilised times. Let’s see how he’s doing? Damian, how are you? Did you watch all the games? DF: Hello Damon. Yes, of course I watched all of the games and hello to all our listeners. I’m very well Damon thanks, and like you, I’ve watched all the quarter-finals and been loving every minute of the 2018 World Cup. It really has been a great competition. Lots of talking points, upsets, great games and goals, and more to look forward to! Er, Damon, what have we got on today’s show? Line-up DB: Well, since the quarter-finals have just finished we are going to take a look back at those four games and, in particular, our predictions for them. After that we are going to discuss a little bit of football language that has emerged over the past few days at the World Cup, we also have some listeners’ posts and of course we’ll give our predictions for the semi-finals and mention the languagecaster predictions competition as well.
