DF: You are listening to
languagecaster.com’s football-language podcast. Welcome everyone to the podcast for all those interested in improving their English skills and who love
the beautiful game of football. My name is Damian and I am here in a bright, sunny London and am looking forward to another weekend of football – Manchester City travel to newly-promoted Wolves, Manchester United
host Tottenham and there is a London
derby between Arsenal and West Ham, while Ronaldo will make his home
debut for Juventus when they take on Lazio in
Serie A. Barcelona play Valladolid and Real Madrid travel to Catalonia to play Girona in La Liga and the
Bundesliga finally returns to action after an extended summer break. What games will you be watching this weekend?
Now, as many of our regular listeners will know the other half of the languagecaster team is Damon and he’s based in Tokyo but unfortunately he will not be joining us on this week’s podcast but he will, of course, be back again next week.
Line-up
So, what do we have on this week’s show? Well, on this week’s podcast I start by asking a football-language question connected to the phrase ‘grassroots football‘, before moving on to discuss some football language that has emerged from the week – this week we explain the phrase ‘
deadline-day signing‘. We then finish off the show with our
predictions competition and will feature three games from the Premier League – we will also be keeping you up to date with our predictions competition to see who is currently leading.
