For the first time ever, New York has a woman in charge, now that Kathy Hochul has taken office as the new governor. NY1’s Zack Fink, Juan Manuel Benítez and Emily Ngo take a look at the first few days of her administration.

She has already outlined her top priorities – most important of all fighting the rise of the Delta variant – and picked State Senator Brian Benjamin as her lieutenant governor, as she gets ready for a hotly contested race for governor next year.

Hochul has also made it clear that she intends to use a diplomatic and collaborative style, in stark contrast to the belligerent and intimidating tactics of her predecessor.
