New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge spoke to the media at a press conference in Tampa this week, and he was asked about the addition of Juan Soto, where he’d like to bat, and how his toe is feeling. Stacey and Steve react to some of Judge’s statements, including a soundbite in which he discusses how he likes to pick the brains of his teammates, pitchers included. Then, an article about DJ LeMahieu on The Athletic talked about how LeMahieu prepared for 2024 after a not-so-stellar 2023 in which he struggled for most of the season. According to the article, the veteran infielder only took a few days off after the season ended before he got back to work. Aaron Boone and Aaron Judge both praised LeMahieu and have high hopes for him. Stacey and Steve discuss if it’s too soon to give LeMahieu the leadoff spot (as Boone said in the offseason) and wonder if he can have a bounce-back season. And finally, Stacey and Steve talk about some odds and ends from Spring Training, including Nestor Cortes feeling good after throwing a bullpen, Austin Wells catching Gerrit Cole’s bullpen session, and Gleyber Torre saying he wants to be a Yankee for life.
