Submit ReviewSpecial Counsel Jack Smith asked for a rare delay in Donald Trump's DC prosecution for trying to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. This development inspired speculation that Smith is now trying to delay the case or maybe that he's not up to the task of prosecuting Trump. This speculation is nonsense. Smith and his team have been going gangbusters after Trump and his criminal cabal. The reasons for the requested delay can be gleaned from the language Smith included in his motion to Judge Tanya Chutkan seeking the delay.
As a career federal prosecutor, Glenn had the experience of struggling to get the higher-ups at the DOJ to make decisions that would allow him to move forward in his cases. He includes his experiences in that regard.
Indeed, one of those experiences ended up as part of the 2019 movie "Georgetown" by Christoph Waltz.
