Celebrated fashion designer Issey Miyake died in August 2022. His creations – a mainstay of fashion curators and architects alik — paired the ancient principles of Japanese design with advances in textile design. Robyn Healy sat in the box seat during Miyake's rise. She was the NGA's inaugural curator of international fashion in the 1980s, and later became the NGV's senior curator of fashion and textiles – institutions among the first in Australia to collect Miyake's work. She now leads RMIT's school of fashion and textiles. This was first broadcast on August 20, 2022. Find more Blueprint For Living via the ABC Listen app or wherever you get your podcasts.
