The Golden State Killer. The Unabomber. Ted Bundy. These serial killers made national headlines. But in 1974-75, there was another ruthless killer at large, terrorizing San Francisco’s LGBTQ+ community. He may be responsible for as many deaths as the Zodiac Killer — or even more — yet you’ve likely never heard of him. Police coined a name for him: "The Doodler.” While a social movement roared to life in the city, The Doodler hunted amid the queer nightlife scene. Plagued by a stymied investigation, a frightened public, and hesitation from victims’ friends and associates to come forward, the police investigation went cold. The killer walked away, free and unknown. Until now.
