"El Conde" had its world premiere at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival (where it won the Golden Osella for Best Screenplay), where it received positive reviews for its satire of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet as a 250-year-old vampire seeking death. Three-time Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Edward Lachman was tasked with bringing Pablo Larraín's unique vision to the screen in stunningly gorgeous black and white. Lachman was kind enough to spend some time talking with us following his latest Oscar nomination about his experience working on the film's technology, shooting with Larraín for the first time, his thoughts on his awards recognition, and more. Please be sure to check out the film, which is up for your consideration at this year's Academy Awards for Best Cinematography and is available to stream on Netflix. Thank you, and enjoy!
