The open-source project targets Nvidia's CUDA software, crucial for Microsoft, OpenAI, Alphabet (Google's parent), and other companies in developing AI applications. UXL plans to finalize technical specifications in the first half of this year, refine technology by year's end, and support Nvidia hardware and code in the long term. Nvidia's AI chip market lead has faced challenges from over 90 startups that raised more than $4 billion, but its CUDA platform remains popular due to features and widespread adoption.
