There’s something about infant adoption that has bugged me for a long time. 10+ years to be exact. Guys (aka husbands) just don’t want to talk about it – let alone take the lead on the adoption journey.
More often than not, the hopeful moms are leading the way to build their family through adoption. This is great because the moms-to-be are so passionate and driven to adopt.
Being a dad of 3 through infant adoption, I am also passionate about building our family through adoption – and helping others do the same.
Here’s my challenge for guys – the husbands who want to be a dad through infant adoption…
STEP UP and support your wife.
I see so many situations where a husband is not supporting his wife on the adoption journey. The women are researching, learning what questions to ask, where to get the answers and along the way realizing they need support. They get frustrated by their husband who may not be fully onboard with adopting for various reasons (finances, time commitment or just plain scared).
Thankfully, many moms-to-be get support from places like our
Facebook Support Group. This is great and definitely will help on their journey to adopt….BUT…
These women can (and should) also get better support from their husband. Why? Because the adoption journey is TOUGH. It can be overwhelming. It is a roller coaster ride. Who wants to go on a roller coaster ride ALONE?
So – after adopting 3 times and listening to a TON of women who want to become a mom through adoption, I want to share with you the 5 Ways A Husband Can Support His Wife on the Adoption Journey.
I hope and pray this episode will help you go on the journey together as a couple, by working and learning as a team all along the way.
If you know someone who could and/or should listen to this, please share it.
