Today on the show, our hosts Giles Alderson, Lucinda Rhodes Thakrar & Andrew Rodger welcome the brilliant writer-director David Beton, who’s known for films and TV shows like I am Soldier (2014),  The Hatton Garden Job (2017), and EastEnders (2021), to talk about their latest feature film Confession (2022), which is out now!

David, Lucinda and Andrew dive deep into the making of Confession: David talks about writing exposition, POV, tone, and the difference between writing a big film vs writing a smaller film. He also discusses the fear of failure, directing actors, what he looks for in a DoP and the director-editor relationship.

While Lucinda talks about finances, Andrew discusses the director-DoP collaboration, how he preps for a shoot and the different types of directors.

Confession is a rather brilliant, contained thriller. It’s out now. Seek it out. Support it in any way you can. And learn from our lovely guests. Sit back, relax, enjoy this week’s episode with David Beton, Lucinda Rhodes Thakrar and Andrew Rodger.

CONFESSION is OUT NOW!

One church, one priest, a wounded man and his loaded gun. An intense thriller played out in real-time during one night where a vengeful confession must take place.
