I’m so excited to share with you today my conversation with author and yoga teacher, Octavia Raheem, who has moved her practice to teaching rest, restorative yoga, and Yoga Nidra. Octavia shares her story of how she unknowingly over-exercised her way into the hospital, and from there started on a journey to transform her life through the practice of rest. From one wounded healer to another, we talk about how from our greatest pain points come our greatest growth, and how rest, even in its simplest form, can lead us closer to courage, awareness, joy, and resiliency.

Octavia’s book Gather focuses on courage, rest, and connecting to your Ancestors, and her new book Pause, Rest, Be: Stillness Practices for Courage During Times of Change is releasing February 1, 2022. Octavia owned a brick and mortar yoga studio until August 2020. She is a mother, online business owner, author, and life partner (wife) who prioritizes rest for her and her family despite the sometimes hectic pace of life. She describes one of her greatest joys to be supporting high achieving and driven people in resting AT WORK. Her clients include lululemon, The Highland Project, KIPP, and Civic Lab.
