According to data from AdImpact, Republican candidates nationwide have recently increased their spending on ads attacking Democrats' approaches to crime and public safety. We look at how these narratives might impact voters' perception of their own safety and dig deeper into the data available on crimes rates — and what it can tell us about both causes and solutions to crime.

We're joined by Rena Karefa-Johnson, Director of National programming at FWD.us, and Ames GrawertSenior Counsel at the Justice Program at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU.
