Submit Review2016 Olympic triathlon champion Gwen Jorgensen joins us this week. Gwen was happy working as an accountant when USA Triathlon persuaded her to join their set up in 2010. A year on and she had qualified for the London Olympics. By 2014 she was dominant and she stormed to gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Then she walked away from the sport to have a family and then announced her new goals, to win gold at the Tokyo Olympics in the marathon.
You'll hear
07:46 we talk about motivation. One of the biggest talents is having internal drive and motivation. "The easy runs are sometimes the hard ones"
13:25 Her main goal this year is the Olympic trials "I'm excited and I'm in a good place. Since doing running and switching from marathon to track, I've been extremely inconsistent, but I feel I had that in triathlon too it's not easy to deal with inconsistencies, but I can see improvements"
18:26 Have the last 5 years been the hardest as an elite sports person? "In triathlon, everyone thinks that I won everything, but at the beginning of my career I lost a lot. It's always enjoyable when you win and when you are struggling, it's hard, but I am loving running"
