My name’s Damon and thank you for joining me for this look back into the archives. We take a look at a podcast from 2015 and the Champions League final between Barcelona and Juventus – two powerhouses of the game, especially in their respective countries. Both of these teams, considering their domestic dominance, however, were desperate to get more glory in Europe. This podcast was recorded in Tokyo with me and Damian talking before the game and then with reactions after the match. From the archive – DF: Hello everybody, my name’s Damian. DB: And I’m Damon. DF: And we’re here in Tokyo Japan. DB: And we’re here for a very special occasion. We’re going to be watching the Champions League final. DF: Yes, the biggest club football match in Europe, in the world, is taking place between Barcelona and Juventus. DB: That’s right. And it’s going to be the end to our ninth season, and what better way to end the season with such a big game, and both teams of course are going for the treble. That’s amazing. DF: That’s right. So, Barcelona have already won the Copa del Rey and the La Liga title. And Juventus have won the Italian Series A title and of course the Coppa Italia. DB: that’s right, so which one is going to come out on top and have the treble and Ol’ Big Ears. What do you think the score’s going to be Damian? DF: Well, I think it’s going to be tight. I know a lot of people are tipping Barcelona but I think it’s going to be 1-1 after 90 minutes, and after that Damon, I’m not really sure. DB: OK, yeah, I agree with you too; I think it is going to be tight. Although I’ve put a prediction in for 2-1 to Barcelona because I just think that their front three are fearsome, and I think they’ll find a way to unpick Juventus somehow. So, we’re going to watch the game now, and we’ll be back in a moment with some of our reactions and some of our guests who are going to be watching the game with us. DB: Well done to Barcelona, they’re up there now with greats, such as Liverpool, aren’t they! DF: Indeed they are. DB: Did you enjoy the game? What did you think? DF: I thought it was a really, really good game: high, high quality. End to end stuff, especially in the second half. Really, really enjoyed it. How about you? DB: Yep. It was great. I wonder what everyone else thought. What was the moment of the game for you, Tracey? TR: My second gin and Barca’s possession. DB: Tim? TM: I think it was Iniesta’s through ball to Suarez. Didn’t end up in a goal but it showed off Barcelona’s attacking quality. DB: How about you Makoto? MK: Their first goal was amazing. Passing, passing, passing: That’s Barcelona. DB: Yuli? YL: The atmosphere. DB: I just thought Juventus’ equaliser was great because that’s what set up the whole final I thought. Damian, how about you? DF: Yeah, I agree with that.
