For the 39th and final time this season let’s do this. We’re joined by Adam Newson (@AdamNewson) Chelsea reporter for football.london (@Football_LDN) for a review of Chelsea’s season. First up we get Adam’s experience of covering Chelsea this season before we look back at the predictions we made back in August.  We then tell the tale of Chelsea’s season in four parts. Firstly we start in August and the feel good factor around Chelsea till Ben Chilwell’s injury in the Juventus win with that being a big turning point in the season. The second part focuses on Chelsea falling off in December with Covid and injuries playing a part, up till Chelsea winning the Club World Cup with Chelsea making progress in the cups during this period. The third part focuses on the Carabao Cup final defeat with Roman putting the club up for sale before being sanctioned. We discuss this period of uncertainty and the siege mentality that grew at Chelsea, with Thomas Tuchel leading Chelsea through this period with respect for the German coach reaching an all time high level up till that Real Madrid first leg defeat. The fourth part focuses on the fallout from Chelsea’s heartbreaking defeat at the Bernabéu till the end of the season with stuttering league form, poor performances that resulted in a brief top 4 scrap and another heartbreaking defeat in penalties to Liverpool, this time in the FA Cup. Then we move onto our season awards. The awards are as follows: Goal of the season Player of the season Most improved player  Unsung hero  Player with biggest turnaround  Most disappointing player Match of season High point of the season Moment of the season Funny moment of season  Biggest disappointment (moment/match)  We then bid farewell to Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen assessing their Chelsea careers before we pay thanks to Roman Abramovich as the curtain comes down on his time as owner before we finally look forward to the new era under Todd Boehly and his consortium. Thank you for all the love and support this season, it’s been a pleasure. Have a great summer and see you next season.
