Scilla and her team share powerful stories in the medium of film, in the hope of creating global change. Scilla was in Hong Kong screening her latest film ‘Angst’ in schools, to parents and members of the community. Scilla shares her life journey with us giving us a glimpse into how she began her career in the film industry, eventually starting her own company IndieFlix. Scilla was bullied as a child and that was the inspiration for her getting on board to help distribute ‘Finding Kind’ where Lauren Paul and Molly Thompson who made this film explore the bullying epidemic amongst girls in particular. These women started a ‘Kind Campaign’ to spread kindness around the globe and Scilla was thrilled to be part of growing this movement. Scilla was also one of the producers of a film called ‘Screenagers’ and she shares why she is so passionate about the topic of teens and their use of technology. The film helps parents and teenagers navigate the digital age. Scilla discusses her most recent film ‘Angst’ and shares her deeply personal story that was the catalyst for her embarking on this film project about anxiety. This moving and inspirational film provides us with tools to manage anxiety whilst opening up the dialogue about this uncomfortable issue that affects so many of us. Scilla and her producing partner Karin Gornick have made it “kind of cool to talk about anxiety” and this film ‘Angst’ is helping so many people who are lucky enough to view it. This film gives permission to people to talk about their vulnerabilities and their fears. Scilla also shares details about her next project ‘LIKE’ which is about the addictive nature of social media and the dopamine that is released when we receive likes on our social media pages. Her hope is that anyone who watches ‘LIKE’ will be inspired to self-regulate their use of technology" says Scilla.
