Submit ReviewRoman Reigns is still out due contracting viral meningitis. In his absence, The Shield has recruited two legends to fill-in for him for two matches. Kurt Angle filled in for the ill Reigns at WWE’s Tables, Ladders, and Chairs event. At WWE’s house show in Glasgow, Scotland, another legend subbed in for reigns. That legend was none other than Triple H. Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.
Triple H? The same Triple H that lost at Wrestlemania because Seth caused him to put his wife through a table. The same Triple H that screwed Dean Ambrose out of the WWE Championship not once, but twice. The very same Triple H that lost his WWE Championship to Roman Reigns at the biggest Wrestlemania of all-time.
Normally, this wouldn’t bother us if it was simply a one-off for the fans of Scotland. They don’t get a lot of shows during the year, so you want to give them a great show and have tons of great surprises. What bothers us is that WWE actively promoted in on their social media channels. And sure, people on Reddit and /wooo are probably saying, “these TAWF dorks can’t turn their brains off for once!” It’s pretty damn hard to turn you brain off to something that’s flaunted right in your face.
Another great topic of discussion is WWE’s obsession with editing events to alter history. WWE’s had a history of altering video footage or audio to get a desired reaction. Go back to old episodes of Saturday Night’s Main Event and tell us that the crowd doesn’t sound like the Pod People from Invasion of the Body Snatchers. WWE’s love of audio sweetening has been even more prevalent over the last decade, causing fans to dub the fake crowd noise as the “Smackdown Hair Dryer.”
