In this episode, Taraleigh and Leah chat with Dan "Lebo" Lebowitz about the relational aspect of live music and how he can feel a response in the audience, whether it is an insight in their head or a twitch of their mouth. Lebo talks about how he combines discipline and surrender to find flow and how this translates into deep improvisation on stage. For the “Did you Know” section, Leah shares the benefits of the flow state as it relates to live music and research that backs it up. Taraleigh instructs listeners on how to create flow in their own lives in her “Daily Jam.”

Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz is a six-string slinger and singer known for his unprecedented versatility, deft songcraft, and irresistible charm. Possessing a signature tone, the vehicle for his fluid, buttery sound is a flat top acoustic guitar that he has personally sliced and diced into an electric flat top, with a vintage style humbucker pickup. Inherently committed to an improvisational approach, Lebo embodies the realm of melodic, soulful rock. He is best known as the guitarist for Animal Liberation Orchestra (ALO) but also plays with Doobie Decibel System, Bone Diggers, MagicGravy, and The Rock Collection. In addition, he has many stellar Lebo & Friends line-ups that feature talented musicians from across the country. He is a fixture in the Bay Area music scene and can often be found musical directing or mentoring up-and-coming musicians live on stage. His love of music spills over in his unique style and most everyone who sees him play live is instantly hooked by his infectious spirit and transcendent guitar playing.
