Welcome to another episode of TAWF!  I was watching quite a few of Kenny Johnson’s wrestling documentaries on YouTube.  He specializes in mini-documentaries, particularly for EVOLVE Wrestling and various other independent promotions.

When I told John that I was watching wrestling documentaries to try to get an idea for a show topic, he figured that we should just talk about wrestling documentaries.  We talk about the obvious ones like Beyond The Mat and Wrestling with Shadows.  These are the documentaries that most people think of when they think of wrestling documentaries.  However, there are a plethora of fantastic documentaries about professional wrestling.  A few are on Netflix (I think) like GLOW: The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling and The Sheik.

You may not be familiar with some of the other docs such as The Last of McGuinness, a documentary that follows former ROH champion Nigel McGuinness on his final matches in pro wrestling, and Card Subject to Change (it’s so much of a downer I had to turn it off).

I encourage everyone to check out the documentaries we discussed on this episode.  If you love behind the scenes looks at pro wrestling, you’ll love the aforementioned documentaries.  Also, feel free to drop into the TAWF discussion group and chat with us about all aspects of professional wrestling!
