Submit ReviewSameena Van Der Mijden has both a fascinating and sobering story on her journey into running. Born in New Delhi and adopted by Dutch parents, she was 12 when they got divorced. When her mother started drinking and became violent, it had a huge impact on Sameena. At the age of 17, she was arrested by the police and left home and was homeless for almost a year, staying with friends or on the streets. In that same year, she met a man who forced her into prostitution for almost two years. When she escaped and moved to another city she started running. In 2017 she ran her first 100km and that was the moment she became addicted to ultrarunning. In 2018 she became Dutch National Champ, and in 2019 she ran her first 24 hour race with 183.3 km. Last December she ran 500km in 115 hours on a 3.35 km loop to raise money for charity.Sameena's story is shocking but also shows the power of running to help deal with the aftermath of what was a terrible experience. This is a must-listen.Enjoy!
