Submit ReviewWelcome to episode 19 of Crate Diggers!
Crate Diggers is a music interview podcast using vinyl records as a jumping off point for conversations between artists and other cool people. Crate Diggers is hosted by DJ and artist Verbz and is engineered / produced by his brother Steez, collectively known as a the Space Gods. Each episode we ask our guest to gather their vinyl collection or compile a list of records that influenced their lives.
Our guest for episode 19 is Future Soul artist, Blossom. Her 2014 record Eclectic Garden received critical acclaim and her numerous performances in the Northwest have quickly made her a staple in the Portland music scene. You can also find her featured on several outstanding tracks by Portland artists like Tope, Myke Bogan, Stevo The Weirdo and many more. She’s got a laid back style and a warm heart. For this episode, we were joined by a motley crew of bandits including future Crate Diggers guests Glenn Waco and Alia Zin as well as We Out Here Magazine‘s Janessa, a behind the scenes force behind Portland monthly event The Thesis. Blossom’s list of music includes a mix of hip-hop, soul, reggae, and R&B with songs from Toni Braxton, Minnie Ripperton, OutKast, Tarrus Riley, Lauryn Hill, and more.
Our featured producer for episode 19 is Portland producer and long time friend of the show, Rey Holliday. We’ve featured his beats on the podcast in the past and has been a long time supporter. He’s got a versatile style and provided us with plenty of wavy tracks to help provide the soundtrack for this episode. Check out his beats on his Soundcloud page and follow him on Twitter – @ReyHolliday.
Each episode of Crate Diggers features beats submitted by producers from around the globe. Episode 19 features music provided by second time guest producer Chris Prythm out of VA. Check out his crew’s music at it.com/">ill-it.com. We also included beats by Sammy J (Soundcloud) out of Visalia, California. Next up is another second time guest producer, Assassin MC aka F.W.Y.T.A.I. (Soundcloud). We’ve also got a producer going by Coldblooded Beats (Website) from helping us round out the soundtrack.
