Welcome to Episode 1693; part of our Italian wine interview series set in Bologna! Today’s interview features Matteo Esposito from Leone de Castris winery. Stevie Kim and her team traveled to the Bologna Slow Wine Fair in March 2023. There they conducted dozens of interviews with some of Italy's most inspiring producers. Join the fun every Thursday afternoon! Tune-in each Thursday as we bring you the great interviews that unfolded over the course of 3 days. More about today’s winery: The history of Leone de Castris travels parallel to that of wine in Puglia since, for over three centuries, the strength and pride of the nobility of its tradition has been released from every sip of its wine. In 1665 Oronzo Arcangelo of the Counts of Lemos founded the winery where it is still located today, in Salice Salentino. It is precisely around the small village of Salice that large estates are created where mainly vineyards and olive trees are planted.
