The Clear Evidence

The following text was published on 2nd April 2022:

The citizens/residents of Saudi Arabia, performing Umrah, are not allowed to enter Makkah city on personal transportation from Saturday, 2nd April 2022 (1st Ramadan 1443H) till Eid ur Fitr, to manage traffic in Makkah city during the month of Ramadan.

Car parks (also known as Hajj parking) have been arranged on all major routes to Makkah. An official shuttle bus service is available from all car parks to Haram. The cost of the ticket per person is SAR 18.4. Tickets can be purchased while entering the parking.

This restriction applies to anyone in Ahram thus the people without Ahram can still enter Makkah. This was a common practice until the month of Ramadan in 2019 but had to be changed in 2020 due to COVID.

Although this method is mandatory for managing traffic in Makkah, it is not very convenient for people with luggage going to hotels or people in a wheelchair. Be careful not to try to bypass these checkpoints as people have been penalized for doing that.

The buses from Haram for returning to parking might not be available during the prayer times.
