The federal opposition is vowing to push ahead with its plan to build seven nuclear power plants around the country - even as the new LNP government in Queensland distances itself from the idea.

The Coalition has promised to release an economic case for the policy by the end of year, while experts are giving evidence about the price and viability of nuclear power at a parliamentary inquiry this week.
