In the past five months, the governors of Texas and Arizona have been sending migrants to D.C. And on Thursday, migrants were dropped off near Vice President Kamala Harris' residence. The influx of migrants in the District has created a crisis, with the mayor declaring a public emergency. We talk with Ward 1 D.C. Councilmember Brianne Nadeau (D), who chairs the Human Services Committee, about how D.C. is working to assist migrants, specifically with housing and education. Plus, we get her thoughts on Amazon’s plan to invest $150 million dollars in affordable housing.

Renters and activists in Montgomery county have been advocating for rent control since COVID-related rent protections ended. Montgomery County Council President Gabe Albornoz (D-At Large) gives us his thoughts on this issue. Plus, we ask when the council will vote on the contentious general plan, Thrive Montgomery 2050.
