Both John and Emily are in pissy moods and can’t figure out why, until they both realize that the antibiotics they’ve been taking may have something to do with it. And any sort of dieting is never easy when your mood isn’t great.

Meet Your Hosts:
-
John Bukenas is a podcast editor from New Jersey. He started the podcast doing keto and intermittent fasting, but is now gearing up for bariatric surgery (probably) later this summer.
-
Emily Prokop is a podcast editor and consultant from Connecticut. She has been doing Intermittent Fasting since April 2018 and has lost about 70 pounds. She started with 16:8 and is now doing 18:6.
In This Episode:
- We recorded on Halloween, which apparently starts the Eating Season in the U.S.
- Emily’s Halloween Costume this year was #SelfCare!
- Water Reminder!
- We apologize for the skipped episode last week — John woke up with a migraine from caffeine withdrawal.
- Caffeine is a hell of a drug!
- This podcast really keeps us accountable so we had quite the few weeks since the last time we recorded.
- John has quite the attitude (but we’ll find out why later in the episode). But the mood really affects weight loss.
- But we try our hardest to get happy!
- John finds out about the hashtag #OKBoomer and has a bit of a fit. Rant ahoy! Be prepared to be schooled and threatened with turning this car right around!
- Did you see the picture Emily posted in the Hate to Weight Discussion Group of the belt she bought when we started the podcast? It’s on its last hole!
- Have you heard of Macy’s Personal Shopper? No minimum to buy and absolutely free! Emily really wants to try this. Oh! And the first time, you get 20% off! Would you try it?
- John solves women’s fashion, LOL! You’re welcome!
- SAGGY KNEES! What is that?!
- Emily is on a roll and continuing her routine.
- As long as Emily knows she can have anything she wants, the timing doesn’t matter as much.
- We will never say it’s easy to start and we go into some of the side effects of Intermittent Fasting in the beginning.
- But the past two weeks really felt like hell to Emily, who’s upper respiratory infection turned into an ear infection.
- Turns out, the antibiotics caused a whole host of mental side effects, including anxiety, irritability, depression and just general “blah-ness.”
- Biotics have helped already, by the way! Thank you to everyone who reached out and suggested them and Emily is currently looking more into the gut-mind connection.
- UPDATE: Emily went to the ENT and ended up having an Inner Ear Infection and am now on more medication. Eek!
- John apologizes to his lady friend, Samantha, for his pissy mood.
- Emily shouts out the Fairfield, Connecticut, McDonald’s. Good job tasting really good!
- Congratulations to everyone’s #WinningWednesday posts!
- Do you watch TV shows with subtitles?
- Later, Weighters!
We’d love to hear your scale and non-scale victories! Come celebrate your wins over in the Hate to Weight Discussion Group on Facebook!
