My name is Leslie Sbrocco and I'm the host of Check, Please! Bay Area. Each week, I will be sharing my tasting notes about the wine the guests and I drank on set during the taping of the show.
Wines of the Week: KQED Wine Club
Our guests enjoyed some of these delicious offerings from the KQED Wine Club.
2007 Cono Sur Chardonnay, Colchagua Valley, Chile
Cono Sur ranks among the most top quality/best value producers in Chile and making it even better, this fresh, bright Chardonnay is made with organically grown grapes.
2005 Hacienda Araucano Carmenere, Valle Central, Chile
Carmenere is the signature wine of Chile. With its roots deeply planted in France’s Bordeaux region, the red grape variety was taken to Chile more than a century ago. It produces deeply-colored wines like this with aromas of bell pepper and dark berries. Another Southern Hemisphere winner from France’s Lurton family.
2008 Tudal Family Winery Chardonnay, Los Carneros, Napa, California
A historic Napa Valley producer that you might not know about but should, Tudal is crafting wines with the winning combination of power and finesse. This limited-production Chardonnay from the cool Carneros region is crisp and bright but still offers a mouthful of ripe fruit flavors.
