CW: Discussions of trauma, violence, involuntary drugging, kidnapping, homelessness, violence against homeless people, shooting, threats, self-destructive behavior, drug use, religion, religious scams, cult behavior, grief and loss, dead bodies. Hey everyone! It’s been…4 months! And in those 4 months, you’d think that maybe Riverdale would figure out how to maybe craft some compelling TV. But instead, what could have been a nice little teaser and resolution from the bonkers conclusion of the last episode became, well, a pretty boring season premiere. Jughead’s on a trauma quest, Archie’s cleaning up the town by whatever means necessary, Veronica is starring in her own version of Uncut Gems, and Betty’s joining forces with Tabitha…by getting drugged with maple mushrooms. It’s a sloppy episode (what else is new) that also happens to be the show’s first in a while, and it just feels underwhelming, to say the least. But maybe next week will be better. Eat some spiked fries and let the tunes wash over you as we discuss “Chapter 86: Strange Bedfellows” this week on The Doghouse.
