CW: Illegal activity by minors, bribery and corruption, vigilante justice, gun threats, serial killers, animal violence, killing of pets not on screen, gaslighting, emotional abuse, abusive parents, family conflict, murder, recovered trauma, poor representation of queer people.
On first watch this week we were still fairly skeptical about this episode. At first glance, things were super unclear and frustrating, with little action. Upon closer inspection, though, there was some character development and nuance that we’re not used to seeing from Riverdale. That is, except for Archie, who, until he gives up his vigilante superhero schtick, we’re just gonna set his dumb pecs aside for now. Nevertheless, we’re digging Jughead’s earnest love for the Baxter Boys, Betty’s recovered memories and trauma, and Veronica’s ridiculous legal scheming, and we’ve got some theories as to where all of this might be leading. Join us for that and more on this episode of The Doghouse!
