The Carolina Panthers at long last have won a football game. The Panthers snapped an NFL-worst nine-game losing streak by defeating the New Orleans Saints, 22-14, at home on Sunday. The win was also the Panthers first home win in over a calendar year.

The Panthers defense continued its pursuit of going from "good to great" by producing three takeaways on Sunday. The defense snapped a streak of its own, considering it hadn't produced a takeaway in any of the previous six games. Special teams were also a key to victory as Panthers kicked Eddy Pineiro remains perfect on the season, the Panthers blocked a FG, and punter Johnny Hekker capped off the day by pinning the Saints deep with seconds remaining in the game.

While defense and special teams shined, the offense continued to sputter. How sustainable is this model of winning games? At what point should fans be concerned about Baker Mayfield's poor performance to start the season?

NFL Network report, Ian Rapoport, revealed on Sunday morning that Panthers owner David Tepper is remaining patient with Panthers head coach Matt Rhule despite the 1-2 start. Did Sunday's win buy Rhule more time?
