YES IT'S A GOOD DAY Part 2 Episode 50 Bell & Whistle Coffee & The Great American Smokehouse 15661 US-101 Brookings, OR 97415 Sponsored by: Blubrry Podcasting-Launch your Podcast the Blubrry Way! https://create.blubrry.com/resources/podcast-media-hosting/ https://create.blubrry.com/resources/podcast-media-hosting/?code=blu002 We are back this week in Brookings Oregon at the Bell and whistle Coffee Shop inside the Great American SmokeHouse. We had such a great time there, and could not leave out any of our fabulous guests or their insightful interviews.  This was a real find and a must stop while on the Pacific Coast Highway. Last week we focused on the coffee half of this episode, this week its all about the food. Locally sourced, high quality foods like SmokeHouse cider chili, and whatever the catch of the day is, something delectable will be in store for you every day. Adding the Bell and Whistle Coffee put the final touch in this booming business, and entrepreneurial community. Why wouldn't you what your fellow business's to succeed? If you want "organic" this is your spot! Meet Justin Walloferns, owner of the Great American Smokehouse whose resume alone could have filled the entire episode this week. Cooking is his passion and he opened his first restaurant at the tender age of 24,chef to musical and political celebrities (think Beale Street and McCain/Obama), to executive chef for a Children's Hospital. The list goes on and on. After listening to Justin it’s easy to understand his passion, for cooking and the community. His life has not been without its trials however, and this soul barring interview will give a glimpse into a complex and amazing man. I think we only scratched the surface. How do you say goodbye to a beloved friend, or anyone who may be suffering from a terminal illness, or dementia. Justin’s answer is heartfelt, and simple, “It takes nothing out of your day to say a kind word” . A poem from Walt Whitman for our literary latte segment completes this in-depth interview. Valerie L VanCleve-Neros  who said yes to a job offer, without knowing what is was! She met Justin and said it has to fun with him in charge! How do you make a panini when you don't cook and don't like to cook. Hear about California transplants from someone who really knows. Would you move to a seaside town and then complain about the noise boats make in the harbor? Her thoughts will make you think twice before you choose the perfect community for your next move. Give her a jeep, or computer to build, and she is happy as a clam, but for the love of God, don’t ask her to do crafts! Without any mermaid experience, and not knowing how to swim, how is Valerie now the queen mermaid at the yearly Pirate Festival? Her advice, regarding doing things outside your comfort zone should make us all think twice before quitting or not even trying something that makes us sweat.  Valerie’s tenacity will leave you with a smile, and you will understand why her husband calls her a Goddess. Where does an 11 year old girl go when her parents can’t parent? how does it affect your life, and who was the one to step up and take care of her? Johnny Mathisen Marketplace Liaison has developed an interesting way to plan for the Great American SmokeHouse menu. First and foremost, find out what the catch of the day is. Trying to snag him for an interview was not easy,  since cooking was just one of his myriad of jobs. The question we had of Johnny after learning about a bet he had lost with an experienced hunter, is why oh why... and did we hear right...eyeball?. Be prepared hilarious and somewhat gross, but the kind of story you will share. Put together flames, smoke, handle-less cast iron skillet, and a few week old inedible material to begin with, and what do you have? Does the abbreviation PU ring a bell. We had trouble completing this interview... but got through it with everybody's favorite tune...My Rifle My Pony and Me! Confused ?
