On this episode of AvTalk, we take stock of the situation in Ukraine and its effects thus far on commercial aviation. The FAA removes Boeing’s ability to self-certify 787s and we review the Singapore Airshow order book.
Civil aviation in Ukraine
The situation in Ukraine remains tense and unpredictable and in that environment, some insurance providers ended coverage for airliners based in Ukraine. Airlines like Ukraine International Airlines and Bees Airlines have had to move leased aircraft out of Ukraine, while others have adjusted flight schedules or canceled flights outright.
FAA says it will certify each 787, not Boeing
The FAA announced this week that it will retain certification authority for the 787 when deliveries resume. Previously, Boeing employees designated to act on behalf of the FAA issued certificates of airworthiness for each aircraft.
The Singapore Airshow orderbook
No major orders, but the A350F gets a bit of a confidence booster and narrow body passenger jets continue to rebound faster than their bigger cousins.
Drone vs rock
The rock won. But thanks to the South African air accident investigators
we have a thorough accounting of what happened.
