For years Aubrey Gordon, author of the newly released book What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Fat, wrote anonymously as "Your Fat Friend" about the social realities of life as a very fat person. Her work has been translated into 19 languages and covered around the world. She has written for many notable outlets, including this recent op-ed in the New York Times, obesity-health.html">Leave Fat Kids Alone, and she is a columnist with SELF Magazine, where she writes about health, weight stigma, and fatness. Aubrey is also one half of the podcast Maintenance Phase, which she makes and hosts with Michael Hobbes. Every other Tuesday they debunk the junk science behind health & wellness fads, and decode their cultural meaning.

She and Julia talk about all of this— the book, the podcast, and so much more, and also discuss Aubrey's decade of experience doing community organizing for the queer community.
