The Aaron Judge saga may be nearing a conclusion. Industry expectation is that Judge will soon sign a new deal, and that it's likely to be with either the Yankees or San Francisco Giants. So—where do the SF Giants stand with Judge as the Winter Meetings begin? The Giants have held their cards very close to the vest this whole time. All we know is that Judge met with the Giants just before Thanksgiving, and that the two-day visit went very well. We know that the expectation is that the SF Giants will make or have made Judge a very competitive offer. Dave Flemming said the other day on KNBR that he believes the Giants have offered enough to Judge that the choice will simply come down to where Judge wants to play: with the Giants or with the Yankees.

In non-Judge news, Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds has requested a trade. Should the San Francisco Giants bring him back to the Bay Area? The Giants made what turned out to be a truly awful decision ahead of the 2018 season, trading Reynolds and Kyle Crick for one season of Andrew McCutchen. McCutchen wasn't a needle-mover for a bad Giants team, and he was dealt before he finished out the season. Reynolds, meanwhile has blossomed into one of the game's better young outfielders. He comes with three years of relatively cheap team control, and the Giants should be interested along with pretty much every team. But they should look to spend before they look to trade top prospects. Reynolds would command a haul.

Barry Bonds was resoundingly rejected for the Hall of Fame on Sunday. A 16-person committee made up of Hall of Fame players, baseball executives, and historians/journalists deliberated over several players' candidacies over the weekend, and elected Fred McGriff to the Hall with 16/16 votes. Twelve votes were needed for induction. Bonds received "less than four," as was the official designation. It's a major blow to Bonds' chances of ever getting in. At this point, as hypocritical as it may be, Bonds' chances at the Hall of Fame appear to be at their lowest point ever.
