Podcast News

  • Wild Card with Rachel Martin interviewed Ira Glass earlier this year at Podcast Movement in Washington DC, and that interview is in the Wild Card podcast feed this week. He doesn't think he's leaving a legacy with This American Life. He says: "I'm making a show for people who hear it now and when it's done and we don't make it anymore, it's perfectly fine for it to vanish into the mists of time like everything will. And it's fine if that happens very quickly."
  • From Australia, the ABC's If You’re Listening is a good listen: and also, a good watch. The show is made with both in mind (in host Matt Bevan's basement); separate teams edit the audio and video versions together. We like the use of archive material, the accessibility of the whole thing, and the journalism is pretty good too. Worth a watch. Or a listen.
  • When You’re Invisible has returned for a new season - telling the stories of people who are often caricatured and left feeling frustrated and unseen. The show has most recently featured a Black male teacher in Baltimore and a community organiser in Philadelphia - working class people and folks who are othered in American society.
  • The BBC's Gangster returns for a new season today, to tell the story of Glasgow’s most notorious crime families. This time, it delves deep into one of Scotland's deadliest gang wars, between two families – the Daniels and the Lyons. Hosted by investigative journalist, Livvy Haydock, this latest instalment of Gangster follows the explosive story of how two families and their associates went to war over control of the lucrative drug trade in north Glasgow.
