Jamie Moyer pitched in four different decades as a Major League pitcher and won 269 games. He was never the most talented guy, he didn’t throw hard and his “stuff” wasn’t impressive, but he got the very most out of his ability by knowing his strengths.

He knew he could use hitters' aggressiveness to his advantage and he did so for 25 seasons. But Moyer also knew he should get the most out of his influence and stature as a professional athlete and he did that as well.

He and his wife started a foundation which holds camps called Camp Erin, named after 15-year-old Erin Metcalf who died of liver cancer. The camps bring together children who have lost a family member to participate in fun outdoor activities and meet other kids who know what real loss feels like.
