During my last stint in radio, which spanned a 14-year period, a Chick-fil-A restaurant was eventually erected less than a mile down the street. I wasn’t yet familiar with the phenomenon that was the chicken sandwich, but I soon would be. To say that my interactions with this establishment’s staff were the best I’ve ever experienced doesn’t do them justice. As I eventually made my way to other franchises around town, I quickly realized my initial experiences weren’t one-offs. Every franchise I visited I encountered the same friendly, courteous, and helpful staff. Something about this place is just different, I realized. How do they do it? And, just as important, why don’t more companies do it? I answer these questions and more with my guest today, Dee Ann Turner, the former VP of Talent at Chick-fil-A. She’s also authored a brand new book – her second – called Bet On Talent: How to Create a Remarkable Culture That Wins the Hearts of Customers.
