For so many of us, this fall running season has taken the wind out of our sails. Cancellations one-after-another during a time when we hoped racing would return. While that feeling is real and pervasive, I'm happy to report that we are starting to see some real in-person options and creativity. Jon Lubgill joins me in this episode to talk about what he and his staff at Sports Backers have done to create a real and appropriate in-person experience for the Richmond Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 8k. Richmond offers a groundbreaking timing solution on a USATF-certified course and is following health and safety protocols to take the guess work out of race day for you. It's true, you can still run a marathon or half marathon this year, on an actual course, with mile markers, bathrooms, and bottle refill stations. You can still get an official result and it can all be done in a safe, socially-distanced manner. From November 7-22, Richmond will have an official course with markings for a marathon, half marathon, and 8k, open 5 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, on the Virginia Capital Trail, a paved trail just minutes from downtown Richmond. Spots are limited, so don’t miss out. Register now at www.richmondmarathon.org, and use the code ‘RamblingRunner’ for a $10 discount through November 22. Registration is $85 for the marathon, $75 for the half marathon, and $30 for the 8k. And make sure to beat the November 1 price increase for all three distances.
