Welcome everyone to the podcast for all those interested in improving their English skills and who love the beautiful game of football. Wow! The 2018 World Cup is very much up and running… DB: Yeah! DF: … as we move into the second week of matches, ah… so far there have been some wonderful games, some late drama, one or two surprises and even a little controversy… DB: A lot… DF: … and so on today’s show we will be looking back at some of the big stories from the first week. Now, my name is Damian and I am based in a very sunny London where I have just returned to after six days in Russia, I was in St Petersburg, Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod watching some of the World Cup football. Now, of course, we have Damon down the line in Tokyo, Japan. Damon, how are things? How’ss Japan reacting to the wonderful win against Colombia? DB: Well Damian, of course everyone is over the moon with the result, and there is belief that they may be able to get through the group if luck goes their way again in the last two games. And I’ve just been watching some news saying that there was a surge in the use of water at half time in the game. And I’m guessing everyone was making tea and going to the toilet! DF: Or maybe just calming down? DB: There you go. DF: Now, I remember when I was living in Tokyo with you that a World Cup can be hard work due to the late kick-off times, how are you doing with them? DB: Well, I did pretty well at the opening weekend, but it’s getting harder and harder as the games are on at 9 pm, midnight and 3 in the morning! But anyway, what do we have on the show today?
