The Butcher’s Knife Cares Not for the Lamb’s Cry.

A mining colony on Corvan II is under attack by Klingons. The Federation has sent Discovery to their aid, but the only way to arrive in time to save the colonists is to use the new spore drive. But what cost is Captain Lorca willing to pay for their rescue? Do the ends justify the means? According to Lorca, they do. He is willing to do anything and sacrifice anyone to win the war against the Klingon Empire—no matter how loud the lamb’s cry.

In this episode of The Edge, hosts Amy Nelson and Aaron Harvey welcome Davis Grayson to discuss the fourth episode of Star Trek: Discovery. We explore Lorca’s character development, look at the interactions between Michael Burnham and the crew, and discuss the Klingon goal of unification. We also answer the question of whether Gene Roddenberry’s vision of a better and more hopeful future is present in this new iteration of Star Trek.

But first, in our news segment, Mike Schindler and Max Hegel share their thoughts on After Trek.
