Welcome to the first episode of Hindsight is Horrifying, where Jason and I (a.k.a Darth Jader) discover our podcast legs with Rocko’s Modern Life. What is truly impressive is the fact that Jason and I had never met each other before this first recording, so we hope you enjoy the natural, raw chemistry that can only stem from two truly demented people being locked in a recording studio together.

Regarding the episode itself, you might be wondering why two “adults” chose to start their podcast with a children’s cartoon like Rocko. You’ll soon discover that the immediate and obvious upside to having such an ancient host as Jason on the show is that he brings a wizened perspective to what used to be a Saturday morning staple for us young folks back in the 90's.

To wit, Rocko’s Modern Life turns out to be even more twisted and mentally scarring from my adult perspective than I would have anticipated. The animation and plot points alike seem to stem from an acid trip. But fear not, for Jason and I arm ourselves with delicious beers from Variant Brewing to brave the wonky 90's programming and accompanying subversive humor.

The beer may or may not be the reason why Jason and I venture off topic from dissecting Rocko (the show, not the wallaby). We point out the delightfully zany humor in the show which ranges from dad jokes to insane comments that shouldn’t be heard outside of asylum walls. That being said, join us and see how the programming of yesteryear holds up on a scale of ALF to Seinfeld. Confused? Just wait! It gets so much worse.
